Child Welfare and Early Childhood: Cross-Systems Collaboration to Improve Outcomes for Young Children and Their Families Series: Kick Off
The “Kick-off” or initial webinar in the series, will provide a rationale, and demonstrate the need for alignment of early childhood and child welfare systems. Given that approximately 40% of all children entering foster care are ages 5 and under, addressing the needs of these children and their families is necessary if child welfare systems are going to move toward achieving better outcomes for children and families. Additionally, we will bring awareness of significant racial disparities for Black, Latino, and Native American children in child welfare systems and outcomes and why they have a particularly negative impact on young children and their families, and give principles/guidance for the way forward.

Speakers: Dr. Renee Boothroyd, Implementation Specialist, University of North Carolina, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute; Yvonne Goodsky, Deputy Director of Prevention & Operations, DHS, Minnesota; Reanna Jacobs, ICWA Supervisor, DHS, Minnesota; Dr. Aisha Ray, Distinguished Fellow, BUILD Initiative

Host: Dr. Cynthia Tate, State Services Liaison, NCIT Hub Lead, BUILD Initiative
